There is no such Atheros chipset as 5600X most probably you meant the AR5006EXS series of Atheros chipsets, anyways read the How To in my signature that should be very relevant to what you need to get things to work.
Please leave feedback and questions over there, so that we can have them in one place for everybody else.

Atheros 5006X Wireless adapter in Compaq Presario C700

I'm trying to run Fedora 9 in the laptop Compaq Presario C700.
The Wireless adapter is Atheros 5006X (I got it from the Windows XP).

Information about the kernel and madwifi as below:
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa | grep kernel-2.6.26
kernel-2.6.26.6-79.fc9.i686
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa | grep madwifi
kmod-madwifi-0.9.4-50.r3771.lvn9.1.i686
kmod-madwifi-2.6.26.6-79.fc9.i686-0.9.4-50.r3771.lvn9.1.i686
madwifi-0.9.4-10.r3771.lvn9.i386

In /etc/modprobe.d/", I found files "madwifi" and "modprobe.conf.dist" but there is no modprobe.conf.

Q1)Can you help to explain?

Some detailed information

[root@localhost ~]# lsmod | grep ath_pci
ath_pci 210104 0
wlan 190900 1 ath_pci
ath_hal 249440 1 ath_pci

[root@localhost ~]# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

pan0 no wireless extensions.

gre0 no wireless extensions.

I have try to use system-network-config but I could not found the adapter that start with name "Atheros".

Can you help me to setup the wireless?
