hey guys since I couldn't find any support by fedora for my intenal modem,I bought a new external modem.But still it didn't detect it.Can anyone help me out in this.My new modem is of aztech um9100 v 9.2.The ftp of the aztech is empty.That really sucks,what are they doing;place ftp link and then end up with an empty server.Please guys help me

no I meant after that when you click that link ,ftp download. Use web ftp and you will find out that the server ftp.aztech.com is empty nothing inside

I was able to get it ok, the file URL is:

I got the driver but it is showing error during compilation.Says something like declaration error in some regs.Can anyone check this one out for me

Did you read and follow "installation" in the file Release Note 2.9.8.txt? Also note the Kernel requirements and "ready to use" kernel source package as indicated you need.

Well I installed the my kernel sourcepackage kernel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.i386.src.rpm ,got it in /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES edited the make file as KERNEL_DIR=/usr/src/redhat/BUILD.But same error bro

you need kernel-devel packages

the src package is for building a new krenel
the devel package is used for building driver

OK, Atari. Here's your help... But you're probably not going to like it.

1) If source code gives you the willys, (it does me too!) Don't mess with it.
2) Follow the law of diminishing returns. Sounds to me like it's long past time to ditch the aztech um9100 (or send it back to whence it came) and start with a proven performer.
My weapon of choice would be the external ZOOM V.90 Faxmodem Series 0269. If you need an internal, the Zoom/FaxModem 56K PCI Plus Model 2920.

Everything you need for drivers is built into the stock default kernel. No need to screw around with compilng anything!

As near as I can see, that is your "best practices solution".
