Hello:
You are bound to have trouble as the packages that you are trying to update are from the development repos which are the standard repos for FC6 Test.
for example :
Quote:
pango.x86_64 0:1.14.4-1.fc6
From:/etc/yum/yum.repos.d/fedora-development.repo
PHP Code:
# These packages are untested and still under development.
# This repository is used for updates to test releases, and for
# development of new releases.
#
# This repository can see significant daily turnover and major
# functionality changes which cause unexpected problems with other
# development packages. Please use these packages if you want to work
# with the Fedora developers by testing these new development packages ....

If you want to use FC5, don't enable the development and extras-development repos. They are for developing the next release (FC6 at the moment).

Hello:
Yes, I know and that is why the development repos are not enabled by default. Once they are done testing etc then, if they are ready for release as an update they become available as a regular yum update. The packages that you updated, for example included pango, which was built for FC6 which is still in the test phase.

You can browse through one of the development repos if you like and you will see the large number of .fc6.rpm's that are present.

It simply means that the old redhat-artwork, the one you have installed, conflicts with a newer package. Simply update the conflicting items to solve it:
Code:
yum --enablerepo=development --enablerepo=extras-development update libnotify libnotify-devel gtk 2 gtk2-engines pygtk2 glib pygobject2 redhat-artwork
That should work.

You are still trying to install FC6Test packages into FC5, that's not going to work. Exactly why did you want to install the FC6 version of libnotify in the first place? What's wrong with the FC5 version? We should go back to the actual problem you were trying to solve, instead of going through your failed attempts to solve it.

Unfortnately because the newer two files you want require other newer ones, there's no escaping it - Either update all of them to the FC6 development, or wait 'till it comes out

Updates to FC5 are in the fedora-updates repo, not in development, so don't enable the development repos if you just want to update your system. If you alredy have installed some packages from development, your system isn't really FC5 anymore.
