used Acronis Disk Director to reorganise my hard disk and grub failed
- Linux wouldn't boot.
After running FDISK /mbr Windows was able to boot.
I have a few questions here.
Is the MBR separate from partitions in general, it doesn't count as a
partition itself?
Is the MBR the same as the boot block?
Does grub overwrite the MBR and the person creating the grub.conf has
to list the partitions the other OSs are located?
Does that mean that if I reinstall grub now and I point it to the new
location of the Linux partition it will work?
The problem was that there was a Linux LVM partition as well as /boot
partition and I wonder where grub.conf installed so that I can reedit
to see if I can get Linux to boot again.
