Daemon FC5

I just installed FC5 on a Dell Inspiron B130 which came with XP. I installed as a dual boot. FC5 came up with the Gnome desktop and all programs on Gnome seemed to work just fine. Tried to change to Add/Remove software to install KDE and the dialer and got the message "Daemon not running". I ewntered Add/Remove Software into the search and it said files "not found." This version of FC5 is a DVD from Linux Format. Any ideas?
