Problems with FC5-6 on Asus M2N4-SLI mb

I have tried to install both FC5 and FC6 Test 2 on the Asus M2N4 motherboard with no success. The GUI install program screen comes up, but as soon as I try to boot the install program, I get a text error screen full of messages and the installation hangs. Here is my system:

Asus M2N4-SLI motherboard for AM2
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ AM2 processor
2 GB OCZ memory
2 Seagate ST33206AS 320 GB perpendicular recording drives in an NVidia RAID array
NEC ND-3550A DVD R/W drive
Gigabyte NVidia 7300GS video card
NEC Multisync 70 GX 17" monitor

I wonder is FC5 or 6 kernels support socket AM2 motherboards. I also have heard that the Seagate perpendicular recording drives have problems with Grub, but that has not prevented installation of Fedora Core.

I could use some help. If I don't respond quickly, I may be off searching elsewhere for some answers or turning my internet connection over to someone else for a bit.

Thanks in advance.

I recently installed FC5 on an Asus M2N32-SLI board and had a similar problem. The error messages on my screen when it hung included the suggestion to start the installer using linux noapic and this worked for me.

Thanks, Parish. I had heard something about a command like this when booting the install program. I tried it at once (at least as soon as I saw your post), but the FC6-T2 install program doesn't recognize it. Is it spelled right?

I tried a memory test and came up with an immense number of errors. I think the CAS letency isn't set correctl;y for my memory (5-5-5-10 at 800MHz). The BIOS should have detected the settings correctly, but either the BIOS or the Fedora install program memory tester got it wrong.

I'll try a manual setting. [This didn't work.]

I discovered the problem was memory that required more than 2.0 volts. I returned the OCZ memory (with a restocking fee, unfortunately) for 2GHz of Corsair memory requiring only 1.9 volts. The computer then was stable, though I again crashed it updating the BIOS.

I am still unable to install FC6. It hangs at the screen where it checks for dependencies. I have been able to install FC5.
