I'm not an expert with iptables so I use kmyfirewall. I think it's great, easy and a very powerful firewall.
You can check it here
You can download the .rpm here for Fedora Core 1
RPM download for Fedora Core 1

I use a lot of p2p sharing programs with it and I don't have to touch anything, I can connect perfectly well.

Good Luck !

Main Menu > System Settings > Security Level is a basic firewall with high medium and low settings, plus opening some ports.

If you want more control with a graphical interface I recommend Firestarter. Get the Red Hat 9 package from the download page.

You should try Jman's recommendation. Firestarter is really easy to handle.

You could check that Firestarter is well configured goint to http://www.grc.com/default.htm and make an online security system test. Scroll down and click on 'ShieldsUP!' link to make the test.

''ShieldsUP!
The Internet's quickest, most popular, reliable and trusted, free Internet security checkup and information service. And now in its Port Authority Edition, it's also the most powerful and complete. Check your system here, and begin learning about using the Internet safely.''

There also is a port scan to check if your firewall is working at http://www.dslreports.com/scan.

I didn't have any interesting ports open, but I have a hardware firewall as well.
