error installing fedora core 1

hi,
i need help plz. i installed fedora core1 successfully on my pc. but when i tried to install it again on another pc, it gets the following problem:
There was an error installing glibc-common-2.3.2-11.9. This can indicate media failure, lack of disk space ,and/or hardware problems. This is a fatal error and your install will be aborted.
Please verify your media and tryh your install again. Press ok to reboot your system.

i tested the media and the result of the test three cd's of fedora is pass, so it's not a media problem. and concerning the disk space the hard disk is 20Gb and all of the fedora packages take about 5.3 GB,so i made a 9GB of disk space for the installation: 6.5 GB of them where for the root and 1.5 as a /temp mount point and the rest for the swap.
So, i think it's not a disk space problem too. and talking about hardware problem i think this issue is discarded too.
so does anybody know what is the problem?
taking into consideration that the same problem happened during installation of linux 8 and linux 9 too. it is installed for the first time correctly then when i try to install it again on another pc it gives me tha same problem.

thanx in advance.
sorry for the long description of the problem.

does it happen just on that specific pc, or on any pc that you install it on with those discs? If its just that pc, its a hardware problem. How old is it by the way? Some older computer bios dont like running linux and Grub/lilo. Have you md5summed the discs/isos? The md5 sum is much more accurate than the media check fedora runs on its own discs before the install. You also might want to just let Fedora do its own sic space allotment. Let it decide, instead of assigning it. Ive never seen Fedora have a problem with assigend disc space, but who knows, anything is possible. Hope this helps, and good luck.

I agree with Prometheus, I suspect the CDs. I would calculate the MD5 sums of the isos used to burn the discs...I also had trouble with one set of CDs that would sometimes work and sometimes not. This is especially likely if the installation crashes at the same place on different discs....they could even be a bit of dirt or thumbprint on the discs.

Memory error!

I got this error when my RAM was defected, I found the defect, starting memtest86 at the CD boot prompt.

I got many "adventures" with this error message in the past ;-)

Greetings, Basti

We like long descriptions of problems, they give us something to work with, and we don't have to keep asking for information.

From your partition setup, I agree that it's unlikely you're running out of disk space. So either your CDs are bad or your hardware failed. I'm inclined to agree that it may be the CDs. If you can save the iso images on a FAT or ext hard drive, you can point the installer there. That would avoid using the CDs.
