Video - Dell Optiplex 110

Hi

I Loaded FC3 on an old Dell optiplex GX 110.

I can boot up, and I can log on and bring up desktop.

As soon as I click on anything the display goes wonky. I can get to the command line from ctl - alt -F2 and log on if I don't click on anything first.

I started out at 1024 X 760? and then went to lower resolutions but still got the same results.

I don't think FC3 has the right driver for it.

I booted up w/ Knoppix, and it runs the video at 1024 X 760, and color depth at 24 just fine.

Are there any Fedora versions that will run on this computer?

Have you run yum update to get the latest patches. Since you are using an old version of FC, I think you have to configure the Fedora legacy repositories.

FWIW: I have a couple of these (GX110's) under my desk at work and I have run FC3 and FC4 on them without video problems. So, you should be able to as well.

How do I run yum update to get the latest patches/

I will need to run it from the terminal, as I can't use the gui.

Seeing that my version of FC dates to 11 03 2004, and the optiplex is 4 years older than that, it seems that the driver should already be on the distro. How can I find if the update will have the driver I need?
