Installing internet explorer 6

Dear wine users,
Does anybody know how to install IE6 using Wine 0.93? I didn't want to download crossover office to do the job because it cost some money to use the full version. I tried installing internet explorer 6 sp1 by double clicking ie6setup.exe icon. At first i thought the installation was going perfectly, until after I accepted its agreement. On the second setup window, it will pop out a message says " Setup was unable to download the requirred components. Please make sure you are connected to the internet, or try to run Setup again later." I'm sure i had internet or else i wouldn't be able to post this thread.

Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks!

Download ie4linux, and it will take care of the download / installation of IE6 under Wine. Very easy this way.

Yup - It's the way to go. When testing sites I can now use Firefox, Opera, and also IE 5, IE 5.5, and IE 6 thanks to IE4Linux

I've downloaded IES4LINUX , but i don't know how to install it under terminal. After i extracted the downloaded folder using ARK i started terminal and typed ies4linux. By typing ies4linux, it will respond as bash: ies4linux: command not found. I've also tried cd /home/jack/ies4linux (where i extracted my files) and it doesn't work as well.

Go to the directory where the files are... so "cd /home/jack/ies4linux"
And then type "chmod +x ies4linux"

That second command makes it executable, which you need. Then type "./ies4linux" to run it. The dot - slash are necessary.

You also need wine and cabextract... if you're not sure, then as root do a "yum install wine cabextract"

Your graphic card driver cant provide DRI, are you running compiz?.

Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".

And if you want to get rid of the smiley faces just post the output using the code tags.

Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
