TA Spring Guide

This post is just aimed at bringing together all the information for people to be able to play Spring on Fedora.

Please remember:: You need 3D drivers for your graphics card to play.

What is Spring?
Spring is re-make of the game Total Annihilation with 3D and traditioinal top down viewing and many many more features. The engine is called Spring but with the defualt mod it is TA Spring.

Getting Spring:
TA Spring from SVN
This is where you can get the TA Spring data files from.

Multiple data directories
Quote:
if you use spring on windows & on linux, theres no need to do dull symlinking anymore to get the windows data automatically recognized on linux, but you can just add e.g. '/windows/Program Files/TASpring' to the end of the list of data directories and you automagically have all maps & mods you play on windows on linux too

Reporting Bugs
Please use this post to report bugs in the Spring game itself. Note: Only for the spring engine, not for the gui you use.

I'll give this a serious look after I get home later tonight... Good thing they already have the Linux stuff out! (last time I checked they still did not have a working Linux client)

Well the linux support is far from finished but they have some good plans in the works to better support Linux and Mac.

The GUI hollowsoul is doing is looking great, he is even going to port it to windows so we can use the same setup across both, and he is adding good lobby support for internet play, although internet play with linux vs linux will not work well if at all until the next version of the Spring Engine.

Windows vs Linux play may not work very well at all until mabye 2 versions later...

Just an update, two or three new version of Spring have been released since i originally posted.

The linux port looks like it is almost finished and i do beleive linux vs windows play works now.

Go check it out!
