Driver compilation issue

Hi all
I have a Belkin rt2571w wireless usb card. I know it could work with the rt2x00 drivers from rt2x00.serialmonkey.com. However, it is known that the driver does not compile under fedora because of kernel patches present in this distro. I searched a lot but didn't find any suggestion for this particular driver (as opposed to the rt2570, rt2500 and rt2400 series). So I wonder if someone here could work a little bit with me for finding a working solution. I think it should be just a matter of proper configuration in the source files. So after that we can maybe produce an howto for other people interested.
Thanks
