Driver for ViewSonic P815 (tube) monitor?

I'm a newbie to FC5. Converted an old PC. It has a ViewSonic 21" P815 monitor (a nice monitor, even though it is the size of a VW). I had to switch to a generic (Vesa?) driver before Xwindows would crank up. However, after it has been running for a long time the monitor starts to sort of ...snap/pop/blink...kinda like it is going to blow up or something. Never was a problem when I was running Windows 2000 on it, so either coincidence and it is just going bad or it is relate to the driver. I suspect driver.

Any comments?

Any advice?

Have you made sure you have configured your xorg.conf to include the proper settings for your monitor such as horizontal frequency and refresh rate? Also, have you tried updating your system to make sure you're using the latest drivers.

for proper monitor configuration see here: http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...s.html#Monitor
