FC5 install not recognising usb dvd-drive

Hi,

Could someone please help me? I'm a complete linux noob but thought I would start with FC5 to teach myself Linux.

Problem is my FC5 installation is not recognising my DVD drive. I am using a Toshiba Libretto U100 with the DVD multi dock.

The DVD is bootable (I have booted other OS's from it), but FC5 refuses to recognise it.

During install I get to the Fedora boot screen and type in "linux". It then loads to the choose a language menu, then keyboard type. It then asks me what type of media contains the packages to be installed? I choose Local CDROM, then I get a No Driver found error.

If this is going to help anyone solve it I found this link for installing linux on the Toshiba Libretto U100: http://linux.toshiba-dme.co.jp/linux...100_report.htm

I dont know what to do? Please help!

Cheers,
Andrew

In order to install on a USB drive you must boot using "linux expert". Do not use the "".

I would advise that you manually partition the drive rather than using the default LVM partition scheme. Also do a search of the forum about booting from USB. You will have to do some after install work in order to boot (new initrd etc).

See th following two items before you start:
