Change login resolution

Hi
I have setup a server using a new monitor and used a resolution of 1280*1024.
I have now completed the install and moved it to another monitor which needs a lower resolution of 1024*768.
Have managed to change the resolution of both root and user accounts but the login screen still remains at the higher resolution and i cant find any options to change it.

Can someone instruct me how to change the resolution of the login screen please.

Thanks

May not help, but try (as root) to remove the 1280x1024 from /etc/X11/xorg.conf file????
This will keep it from going into that resolution.

Didnt work, still gives an output that the monitor can't display.
Noticed in xorg.conf the only monitor listed is the old one, it it possible to re-scan the hardware in gnome to detect and install the new monitor over the old one.
Still need a way to change res of the login screen too.

Problem solved

kudzu did nothing, didnt replace my old monitor or even add new one in X11 config file.

Sloution was not to comment out the 1280x1024 resolution block but to overwrite the 1280x1024 line with 1024x768.

Thanks for the help
