heres a pickle. i mount a usb mass storage device to linux to copy some files to windows machine. when i open a window in gnome and drag the files they appeared to be copied. when i mount the device to windows it appeares that they are not there.
i tried the same procedure from a command line:
cp /home/user/file.file /media/disk
when i mount it back to windows it sees the files, but the size is 0 kb. i was doing it to playback wmv files as i havent found a definite answer how to playback them on fedora.
another problem appeared when i changed a firmware on an mp3 player to umd so that linux can see it. well, it sees it alright. but when i copy mp3 files on the device (for instance 3 albums) it shows only 3 songs afterwards (when i unplug it). the name of the song is different from its content (i know that britney spears did not sing voodoo child on woodstock). the player behaves uncontrollably.
i think the problem might be that files are not properly copied to the device. so how to change it?
i appreciate any help
