Broken Link while Installing the latest kernel

Hi

FC4

Downloaded the latest kernel, 2.6.17.7, and was installing.

Right now the issue is that I have a folder called "build" which is a broken link pointing to target
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.17-1.2142_FC4-i686

Under "/usr/src/" the "kernels" directory is missing.

Not sure how what happened. Pls help.

Additional info

Under "/lib/modules" I have 3 folders ?:
i) 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 (original)
ii) 2.6.17-1.2142_FC4 (updated)
iii) 2.6.17.7

It appears that (ii) above hasn't been updated since Monday - I did properly compile the updated kernel today (unsuccessfully on Monday).

Would it be possible that it is now referring to (iii) above? Why? Is this correct?

Thanks

You should install the kernel-devel package.

yum install kernel-devel
