Fedora Core 5 Installation Hangs

I have recently acquired a 2nd hand pc that i want to use to learn linux. I got a fedora core 5 DVD and am trying to install it without luck. It has however installed fine on 2 other machines.

When I try to install it boots to the load screen and when i push enter it gets to ACPI: setting ELCR to 0200 (from 0e20) then hangs. I have tried various prompts for the linux command and nothing works (including ACPI off which still hangs but it hangs on Checking 'hlt' instruction.....OK) Ive updated to the most recent BIOS available for the board.

My specs are as follows:

AMD XP1700+
DFI AD77 Motherboard
512MB
40GB HDD
DVD Writer Liteon
GeForce 5600XT (have tried other cards too)
Soundblaster Live 5.1 Sound Card (also tried without the card)

Any help would be much appreciated

You could try to take the hdd out of the bad comp. Put it in the good comp. Install Fedora there, do a kernel update ofcourse, don't install ANY drivers, leave just the kernel ones. And put the Hdd back to the old comp. Chances are it will work, with only a few minor tweaks to the video card and the monitor type after startup (hopefully)
If anyone has a better idea i'm all ears (or eyes)

Thanks for the reply mate but no it didnt work even tried installing it again and running memtest86 and it doesnt even make it that far. keeps hanging t the Checking 'hlt' instruction....OK part
