Angry OMG - Just update to the latest Kernel ->

Using yum and now i cant login as user...

authentication failed ..

Thats all i get..

PS: i can login as root but that about it.

Any Ideas ????? This is criticall

Hello:
No idea what you are experiencing?
Which kernel are you running ? uname -r
You can always boot to an earlier kernel where you did not have the issue you are having now.

if I'm running 2.6.16-1.2122_FC5 right now and I'd like to add the latest (2.6.17-1.2157 right?) to grub, and boot to it, how do I do that?

Also, I need the kernel devel package since I run vmware, and will have to reconpile vmware with it.

FC% logg in authentication failed message

Hi,

I'm been running 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5 for a few days without problem. Today I run a YUM Update and afterwards rebooted. Now I can't login as a user I get a message saynig authenication failed. I can log in as root.

Any suggesstions. I'm new to Linux so please give instructions as monkey see monkey do.

Well if two of you have just updated through yum, and now the two of you cannot log in with a normal user, I suspect a problem with an updated package.

Do you know what yum installed / updated?

I found another bug with kernel 2.6.17.2157. My dialup internet connection has become dead slow. earlier it was alright with kernel 2.6.16.2133
