XGL and Graphic Cards

Hi there! I tried to install XGL; it worked, but I saw a lot of lines thoughtout the monitor and it was slow. I think it's because of my ATI Radeon 7000 which is not powerful enough to support XGL.

What graphic cards are good for XGL?

Hmm. I have Radeon 9600 and XGL works smoothly. Maybe its because of drivers you are using..

Any nVidia card should work smooth. Most ATI does in as well. But the ATI-driver is no as easy to setup as the nVidia one.

YES, I do.

there are drivers on rpm.livna.org or freshrpms.net.

The easyst way to install it ist to use yum. search in the forum for howto or have a look at: www.fedorafaq.org

In trubbels http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/foru...?s=&forumid=14 can be helpfull.

1. open: etc/X11/xorg.conf

2. search the Section "Device"

3. see "Driver" entry

well, i tired to follow the instruction provided at fedorafaq to install ATI drivers, but I achieved what I call "really messing things up.".

Here are the instruction I followed:

http://www.fedorafaq.org/#radeon

I did everything, and then, after the "init 5" line... X-Server didn't start. It was saying "Failed to start the X-Server"... then it offered me to reconfigure the server, showed a window... I checked the resolution and then gdm started.
Then, I enabled XGL, and again, the X-Server isn't running anymore...

Now I have no idea how to fix this and I'd like to come back to the previous configuration :| plz help! :°°° what a disaster
