Finally got a clean install of FC5 after sevral attempts, and using different methods. Now that FC5 is up and running I can not get X to run. I went out to see why and behold.... no mouse in xorg.conf.
Made the entry and tested out the xorg.conf.new file still no good.... the file /dev/mouse is missing. So at this point I did a bit of reading.. and made a symlink to /dev/psaux to point to /dev/mouse. Startx and everything works, so I do a tweak on the display and reboot... system is back up and X fails again.... symlink is gone, no file /dev/mouse.
So my question is rather simple... do I need to ditch the 2 button wheel mouse ( PS/2 ) and opt for a mouse that will be detected and supported by FC5 or is there a way to get this mouse working so it will not disappear after every reboot.....
If I need to replace the mouse... suggestions... pros and cons?
Thanks in advance for the help, I am determined to learn FC5 and find these little mishaps a golden opportunity to learn, so vastly different from my days on the mainframe
