dell e1505 problem with fglrx

Hello,

I read the previous posts on the FC5/e1505 setup methods, and got both sound and wireless working great with little problem.

The only remaining problem is the fglrx install. I installed the kmod-fglrx-smp packages from livna, and ran aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf

I rebooted to a not so friendly blank screen(alt-ctrl-escape didn't work); so I rebooted again into init runlevel 3.

In level 3 if I manually go to run-level 5 gdm loads fine and I can log in normally from there.

if I just let the system boot(I assume it goes to level 5 by default), I get the blank screen.

Are there any different files that are executed in the different ways of getting to runlevel 5? If so where are they stored?

Any help would be appreciated.

had the same problem. I had to turn off graphical boot

try editing /etc/sysconfig/init

change the line GRAPHICAL=yes
to GRAPHICAL=no
