Evelution cant read mail from pop server

I can send mail from evolution (smtp) but cant retrieve mail from pop server.

When I try to receive mail it doesnt give me an error, it just fails to retrieve the mail.
Please can someone help me, I hate using my xp laptop to retrieve mail.

Generally, this is caused by typing an incorrect character when setting up pop. Double-check your settings as a first step.

I was downloading messages on my XP laptop to test, so, there was no messages left on the server.
I feel a bit silly but you live and learn hey.
