Apple laserwriter 4/600 PS on intel machine

A freind has passed me an Apple LaserWriter 4/600 PS laser printer to have a play around with. It has a lone appletalk connectoron it i.e. no ethernet.
I have an appletalk to parrallell port cable and was wondering if anybody had managed to set up this printer, or one similar, under fedora core 5 when its directly attached to the parrallel port. I have a dell PIII running FC5 ??
Thanks in advance,
woppa
