There was a news item yesterday, I think, about ring tones being set in that range to avoid adults getting annoyed or hearing calls for the teens.

I can appearantly hear up to 18,000 hz. 19,000 I'm no longer able to hear. Must have been those times I went shooting without hearing protection.

Those are some horrific sounds there. I kept expecting a fly and a ring to appear on the screen.

I also think the mp3s are screwed up, because I definitely hear something loud and clear all the way up to 20,000 but silence higher than that, which are the wavs. This should be redone with just wavs for a proper test..

You know, upon closer inspection, I didn't test it out right. If you raise the volume too much on some speakers, there will be some slight feedback effect. That's not the sound itself and that's what I was hearing. I don't really hear much at around 17,000. This is awesome. I wish I had one of those alarms to give flight to those "mosquitos". Where could I buy one??

Hmmm--guess I'm about par with Bob at 12k or so.
Too many years of old R--n--R played too loud.
Or maybe it's just the tintinitus is louder in either ear?

In Amsterdam, very high tones are used to keep away young people from hanging around the stations. When you hear such a sound for more then a few minutes, you get completely crazy
Older people don't hear it.

Lol
Some pupils are using such sound so that the teachers can't hear it when their phone rings.

Btw: I (16 years) can hear everything til 20.000Hz, that's the same as my 10 year old brother, so my ears are quote good compared to my age (or my speakers can't send out a higher tone)
