md5sum problem.

i have this problem:
Code:
knoppix@0[hda4]$ wget http://ftp.kddilabs.jp/Linux/packages/fedora/core/5/i386/iso/FC-5-i386-disc1.iso
--08:50:00--  http://ftp.kddilabs.jp/Linux/packages/fedora/core/5/i386/iso/FC-5-i386-disc1.iso
           => `FC-5-i386-disc1.iso'

knoppix@0[hda4]$ md5sum FC-5-i386-disc1.iso
65230e2167655e0d652800fbbe49f072  FC-5-i386-disc1.iso
every time i try to download via http, ftp, or wget from multiple mirrors.

i thought at first it was just an error with knoppix md5sum for some reason, but none of the cd's i burned check good in the check disk utility druing the install, and none of them will complete an install on my machine.

The checkums given are actually sha1sum, not md5sum. Try sha1sum on it and check against what's on the download page. If that checks out the burn was probably bad.

So try burning at a slower speed perhaps.

actually i have a burner with a max speed of 8x, so high speed burning was not a problem.

my problem with the bad disk burning was because i forgot to enable knoppix dma before i burned. just typical brain fart issues.

edit to add: i was able to get a good install of fc5 completed after i banged my head against the wall a few times.
