Rant - Very annoyed

To about qoute: "RedHat has no longer any support for this application and it is not able to run mpeg3 layer files. We are sorry for this inconveniance". Xmms is the app concerning in this matter, it worked fine to run until the latest package updates. So the f**k is going on? Very annoying, since none of the Fedora apps are able to run mp3 for some reason. Feels like **** always go wrong in i linux just for "me". Reason to xmms not being supported anymore?

-Fratt, teh annoyed Ocelot.

generally for mp3/proprietry media playback you need to use packages from unofficial repos such as livna. Which version of Fedora are you using, and I'm sure we can point you where to get the mp3-enabled xmms or whatever else you're after?

Nevermind, going back to OS X. UNIX commands work there to, dont need linux anymore. (Ban if you'll like dont ****ing care). Might perhaps just keep linux still for practice of more "different" shells. As for version, its FC5.

I found this tread funny - it was very comical to see you give up so quickly on something that's so easly fixed.

as said before, mp3 support is not defualt in fedora because of legal reasons. OSX probably has licenses so it works by defualt.

BUT osx is based on freebsd, so yeah at least you didnt run to windows :P

Your choice. I'm using Mplayer with no problems. After all, you've given it a whole 2 days since joining.

Hang in with the registration. You may be back for another try with FC6 or afterwards. Good luck to you.

Apparently he didn't even read the Fedora-FAQ. Some guys simply refuse to learn anything or read anything. Just my opinion of course.

It's very simple, legality issues. OSX and MS has paid licensing fees and hence a portion of the reason that they are NOT distributed "free" of cost. A quick bit of research would easily provide you this information.

Sounds like you found your product. If it does what you need, why switch to something else?

In all honesty, I hate to see a new user go. But personally, your language and your attitude doesn't really fit in around here.

That's probably because you do have an english to troll translation dictionary. I too found it extremely difficult conversing with trolls, so now I just ignore the nasty little buggers.

if we all did that we'd never install windows let alone linux. A friend of mine is a PowerMac G5 user running music production software like Pro-tools etc. and uses it day in day out for all sorts of stuff. He too has issues with the Mac.

As for you, please, please uninstall Fedora, delete the ISO images and please throw away the CD's/DVD's that you may have burnt. No offence, but someone like you probably doesn't deserve Linux. Linux is powerful, highly configurable, fleixble, and... free..

There are compromises to achieve this....

This is not about OSX, Windows, or Linux, this is just life

I'm closing this thread since it's only being used to post negative comments. To say that someone is undeserving of linux is not in the spirit of the OS. There are a few active members who have, early on, had their bad moments and expressed frustration and anger when something went wrong. They are now helpful tutors for others, so please don't characterize a person due to a single comment. We wish every person good luck finding the distro or OS that suits their needs, be it Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD or other.
