Using DVI on a ViewSonic VA2012wb

I just thought that I should inform anyone who is thinking of trying this NOT to do it

For some reason, this monitor has some incompatibility with Linux. I was booting off a FC5 Install DVD, when all of a sudden everything halted. I restarted my computer, and my monitor stopped working. Finally, I switched from DVI to VGA and it started working. It seems that using DVI in Linux will fry the entire DVI port, and render it useless for good. So now I'm stuck using VGA until I can take back this POS monitor

I know it's not just my monitor, because this has been happening all over
