Skype on FC5

The skype site just has a version for FC3. I did a forum search and saw that one person had a problem installing it on FC5. Anybody out there get skype working on FC5?

Thanks

Mine works on FC5. I installed it on FC3 and upgraded from FC3-FC5 and skype just continued to work. Did nothing special.
I think many have it working on 5 (and 4).

I too had no problem installing skype on fc5.

The only thing is that the sound when I use it under kde is somewhat echoing compared to when I use it under gnome. Gnome has a better sound quality compared to Kde when using skype voice.

Actually the skype RPM is staltically linked with Qt libraries, so you can just install it on FC5 and it'll work... Heck it works even for FC x86_64.

I get that in a GNOME session, not the case (for obvious reasons) in a KDE session... Though I find this a bit intriguing as Skype is statically linked, and it would use its own Qt symbols, and wouldn't depend on Qt symbols already loaded into memory.

Go thru the system services and turn off the stuff you dont need. That halved my time at least. Sendmail, apache, pcmcia (this was a tower btw), and hp printing werent needed. So I killed em. Helps out alot.
