Evolution exchange adds 1 unread message to the exchange account

Hello, since the last evolution update (2.6.2) my exchange account always shows [unread messages + 1] in the inbox every time it checks for new email with the exchange server either when I click "Send and Receieve" or when evolution does it automatically every 10 minutes.

If i mark one message as "read" and then restore it back to "unread" it will make the count correctly until it checks with the server again.

Is everyone experiencing this problem? I am not sure if it is an upstream bug.

Thanx,

-William

I have more details now. It seems that the left pane is right and it's showing the numbers of unread messages in the exchange server but the messages list doesn't show them even if I "Send and Receive" several times. The only way to make them show up in the mails list is closing evolution and opening again.

Any other user seeing this problem?

I'm having the same problem. I wish I knew how to fix it.

walovaton, you might consider updating the subject of this thread now that you know what's really going on, so others with the same problem can find us more easily. (I originally searched for "evolution 2.6.2 missing messages" and didn't find any posts that seemed relevant.

Evolution not refreshing the messages list with new mails from exchange server

Yeah foresto, this one seems a bit problematic, restarting evolution would do the trick for now. However, I have a more critical problem now: All of a sudden evolution would hog the CPU when trying to open unread messages, it blocks there trying to fetch the message. The strange thing is that the GUI isn't blocked, I can click everywhere and the GUI would respond, but if I select another mail from the list it wouldn't show up. I guess this is a problem in the evolution-exchange module. I filed a bug in Redhat here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla....cgi?id=194673

I am planing to file it upstream too.

Looks like Red Hat's hardware failure resulted in this bug being lost. Willing to refile? (Yes, I'm being lazy)

Has anyone found a bug report for evolution failing to show new messages in the list? Is this a widely known problem?

I was suffering the same problem.

I turned off "Group by threads" and the missing messages were displayed.

Nice to know, but I don't use "group by threads", so I suspect there is a larger problem here.

This bug showed up a month or so ago when evolution was upgraded from 2.6.1 to 2.6.2. I went back to 2.6.1 and have excluded it from the yum upgrade since. You will also have to go back to the previous version of gnome-panel.

Replying to myself:

The failure to show new messages in the message list, despite the new message count changing in the fodler pane, is reported here:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349413

According to that bug report, the fix "will be availabe in 2.6.4 and 2.7.92 and above"
