Usuing f4 now- its fine but NO SOUND----f5 still blacking out-

f4 isnt blacking out- it was only f5-i downloaded f5 from the site-checked media before install..maybe too graphical; for my computer?(radeon 9200 pci-1 gig ram)the only thing is this is a pretty old copy i downloaded a logn tiem ago.i have NO SOUND-it sees ym ac97 audio card-but doesnt play a sound.any ideas?
I ..deleted all partitions and did a fresh install.so far so good with good ole f4(other than the sound) it feels a bit more stable on my computer.
I want f5 back though I have to try and get sound..any commands ?i will go to realtek website-I am hoping f4 uses yum being i was getting used to it and learning it also-i may 'update; f4 to f5 and try it that way.
im afraid if I 'update' f4 with f5..i'll get the same problems with boacking out.It was driving me crazy0 i thought it was my monitor...tried another monitor.still the black out before putting in password and name..i dotn get it.
If i do indeed upgarde ..and i get the blac out, is there a way to remove the upgrade in linux rescue? and does f4 use yum as well.??
thanks all
any ideas appreciated(about the sound...and yum)also any commands i should know to update..etc
thanks
