Sound card: No PCM default device

Hi,

I have a Sound Blaster vibra 16 sound card, i know, it is a very old card, but i'm testing Fedora Core 5 on a not so new computer.

The problem i have with my configuration is this:
The sound card is detected by the sound card detection component, but the PCM default device list selector is empty and the test sound doesn't work.

One time after leaving a root session and login as another user, the sound worked, i tested the PCM device list and it was populated with the sound blaster device. This was the only one time the sound was working. From then, the sound never works any more, in root session or any user session i start, and the PCM device list is always empty.

Some advice about how to fix this behaviour?

Thank you all and Kind regards.
