Thumbs up Upgrade MySQL 3.23 to MySQL 5 in Fedora Core 3

Hi guys!...

Just want to share this information to you. It helped me so just want to return the favor thru this. here it goes...

i've been looking around for almost three days to upgrade my MySQL 3.23.58 to MySQL 5 in FC 3. Why? Because I cannot make use of InnoDB database engine in 3.23 and some forums said that I need to upgrade to MySQL 5 which I thought would be 'a walk in the park' but unfortunately, it was not..

i tried to download TAR files and RPMs for MYSQL 5 for FC3 but all gets to nowhere until i found this site http://remi.collet.free.fr/index.php...2-mysql-5021-1 which has the 'working' rpms. though it's not an english site, nevermind this because even I was not able to understand what are in the site. I just clicked on the rpm links.

so, i hope this would be of help to you....

if you need some help in case you still bump into some troubles doing the upgrade, don't hesitate to reply to this....

good luck and FEDORA LINUX RULES!
