[help, plz]Install different software, from base install

I'm looking for some things, and a easy-to-use, easy-to-access tut to help me with those things.

I'm looking for replacements for the following things:
-- Podcast downloader (automatic, daily) and manager
-- C++ compiler (for GNU and other porgrams, I've had experince...None good )
-- MS Paint replacement (XPaint seems good, can't install it, nor GPaint) but nothing to advanced, such as GIMP

And, I would like pointers for Java, Flash, and GTKPod. With the podcast program, I would also like a genral music player for playing those podcasts, along with wma, wmv, rma, mp3, aac, and m4a files.

I'd like to know how, with a fresh basic FC5 install. So, if any extra libraies are needed, plz tell me. Prefabliy, I'd like to install the packages through Yum or RPMS, and not by source, but that's not always possible. Ah, well.

Do this as root:

yum groupinstall 'Development Tools'
