COMPAQ 2266 - Hangs after install. HELP!

I tried installing mandrake 9.2 and fedora (yarrow)....compaq 2266....installs fine...but will not boot ...


"APM: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.16)" HANGS THERE

...any suggestions?

Compaq Presario 2266
128mb ram
10gb hdd
basic cdrom
onboard sound and video
no SCSI devices
realtek nic
compaq winmodem (i know i should pull it)

Forgot to mention at one point (year ago) I did have redhat 7.1 running on this, i forget how tho.

try turning your APM off. I believe you can do this by adding apm=off in the boot line in the boot loader. I think you do that like this:
when your bootloader loads up I think you press "e" for edit
if that doesn't work it probably says on the screen how to change/edit the boot lines. basicly you just want to put that line in the bootup and see if it solves your problem. if that works edit your lilo or grub conf file to make the change perminent until you find a better solution to fix it.
