White Screen

Hello to all. I really need your help. I am new to this world and want to learn. I have an Averatec 6100 series laptop (SIS Chipset / AMD). Tried installing FC3 and all went well or so I thought. When I try to log on as a user everthing seems to be fine for a few seconds and then the screen goes white. I've waited and waited with no change.

Now after I reboot and log in as "root" I am able to get the GUI up with np.

My question is how do I fix the white screen when trying to log on as a user????

Thanks in advance.

FC3 has been transfered to Fedora legacy www.fedoralegacy.org for maintenance.
if you are making a new installation, then you are better off getting a copy of FC5 and trying from there.
