Question Switching from Gentoo to FC5, can I keep my /home directory?

Hi all,

I've got a pentium3 Celeron (Coppermine) ,600MHz running as a small homeserver, on Gentoo Linux..
As you may know everything you install Gentoo has to be compiled from source and frankly ;I'm fed up with it it takes too long.
I've installed FC5 on my other (AMD Athlon XP 1700) PC and I'm very pleased with it. So I want to switch from Gentoo to FC5 on the homeserver.

I'm a bit confused about the lvm2 thing ..
The home directory is on a second harddrive (hdb).
There's a lot of stuff there (a LOT of email).
Is it possible to keep the home directory ?

TIA Rob

Yeah, sure... only thing is that in there you're going to have lots of configuration directories used by programs like Gnome (KDE), mozilla, java, openoffice, evolution, etc. The new installation may not work too well with those, so either you check'em one by one, deleting the ones you are willing to reconfigure and keeping the ones you reckon are going to work with a possibly different version of the software, or you might as well do a backup and start afresh.

Well, after some googling and browsing the forum, I guess it is best to start with a fresh install.
Backing up as we speak :-)
