Java for Mozilla
I went to Sun's Java site and installed the rpm for j2re-1.4.2-01-fes
and subsequently ran rpm j2re.......... which appeared to run error
free.
My games in Yahoo/Java still do not work.
Is there another setting to make?

Yup, you have to manke a symlink to
/usr/java/jre...../plugins/ns610...../lib.....so in a place where mozilla
looks for plugins, eg, /usr/local/netscape/plugins
I did this the other day for my stepson, the incomplete paths are from memory
:-) but it all worked fine after the symlink was made.

Just download the j2re-1_4_2_02-linux-i586.bin from http://java.sun.com/
in a terminal:
$ chmod 755 j2re-1_4_2_02-linux-i586.bin
$ ./j2re-1_4_2_02-linux-i586.bin
at this point, you have (as I remember), a directory j2re-1_4_2_02
look inside this directory and search for libjavaplugin_oji.so
you have to create a symlink in ~/.mozilla/plugins/
$ ln -s /path/to/libjavaplugin_oji.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
for me:
$ ls -la ~/.mozilla/plugins
libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/local/j2sdk/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so
