Konqueror file compress problem

I am a relatively new Linux user - I am trying to compress some files in Konqueror - I select the files, right click, choose Compress option, ... None of the compress options work, no file created, no error message, nothing. I have r/w permissions.

I am running FC4 and Konqueror 3.4.0.5

Thanks

Paul
