Belkin card only works w/o WEP
Hi,
I have a Dell Latitude C610, Belkin F5D7010 ver 4, pciid 14e4:4318 (rev 02) and I am running FC4. Used the Network Configuration/ndiswrapper to get wireless work. It only works without any encryption (WEP). I just cant get an IP when I use WEP. I have used 0x in front of key network cofiguration GUI. Please help. I just dont have a clue how to fix it. Is there any line I need to add to any files somewhere.

Have you first double checked all of your settings in the network configuration? Such as; making sure DHCP is checked, and that you specified your SSID? Does it give any errors after you try and activate or connect to your wireless network when you enabled WEP?

Hi,
Yes, I have DHCp checled. When I try to activate after WEP , it says obtaing IP address for wlan0......failed, no link present. Check cable. Should I alias wlan0 to eth 0 or 1 since it is looking for the eth0 or 1 conncetion. If so , how do I do it. Thanks for you help.

Can somebody help. Please. This is getting to be frustrating. It just would not get an IP address when WEP is enabled in the router. Is there any time out issue when it is trying to get the IP address. The WEP format i use in the Network confuguration is (0xXXXXXXXXXX). Should this be different. The driver supports WEP and whole lotta encryptions. ALl is fine w/o WEP. I really want to know what the problem is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
SOMEBODY PLEASE READ.
After several days of search and reading , I noticed in one of the threads one had open xxxxxxxxxx for WEP in the Network configuration. It just does not work with restricted. It atlesat gets the IP now with WEP enabled. The wlan0 is npot activated and the error I get in the network configuration is
Determining IP information for wlan0...PING 192.168.2.1 (192.168.2.1) from 192.168.2.3 wlan0: 56(84) bytes of data.
--- 192.168.2.1 ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 received, +3 errors, 100% packet loss, time 3000ms
, pipe 4
failed.
Also I noticed that when I run system-config-network I get the following in the terminal and at the same time the Network configuration GNOME opens. Here it goes
[root@Laptop ~]# system-config-network
/usr/share/system-config-network/netconfpkg/gui/maindialog.py:963: GtkDeprecationWarning: gtk.timeout_remove is deprecated, use gobject.source_remove instead
gtk.timeout_remove(self.tag)
/usr/share/system-config-network/netconfpkg/gui/GUI_functions.py:516: GtkDeprecationWarning: gtk.mainiteration is deprecated, use gtk.main_iteration instead
gtk.mainiteration()
