How to install HP deskjet printer 5850?

I have a network-connected HP deskjet printer 5850. I can access it from a WIN or MAC machine, but do not succeed from a linux machine (fedora 5 installed). I have tried via CUPS and UNIX but failed. For example, if I tried with unix, I get the message "Network host ... is busy, down, or unreachable; will retry in 30 seconds...". I put its IP address into the server field and "lp" into the queue field.
Any help is very appreciated.
