xorg-x11-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2 Fedora 4 switches screen resolution

Hi,

I have display resolution set up by system-config-display to be 1280 x 1024 . When I start Fedora and I get the log on screen I think the display is in this resolution. However, after X starts the resolution changes to something like 800 x 600. Anyone else seeing this?

xorg-x11-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2
kernel 2.6.16-1.2069_FC4

Thanks

Clive

This problem is a real pain.

Has no-one else seen this?

Any suggestions on what diagnostics I can take and post to at least get a clue as to why this is happening?

The laptop must be able to support a higher resolution as I can see the screen resolution change after the password is entered. The cursor arrow gets bigger.

I have a similar problem, my screen resolution preference wasn't displayed during installation, so I just went with the 800x600 display. When I got to my desktop and changed the preferences in gnome, it messed up and displayed really funky looking. Like the words were scattered across the screen, it looks like an old tv with a bad antenna. I'm hoping its just a glitch that can be fixed with a simple yum update. Thats what I'm doing now. I'll post back if it works. I'm using a laptop, hp ze4400

Anywhere else I can post this problem and raise its visibility?

This is a most annoying problem with no work-around.

Any suggestions on where to post this problem?

Is it an Xorg problem?
Is it a Gnome problem?
Is it a problem with Fedora support for Radeon?

Xorg log posted below if anyone is prepared to trawl through it.

I would really appreciate some help fixing this problem
