Question Canon LBP-1120 FC5 printer drivers

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get FC5 drivers for the above printer? I´ve downloaded the Canon rpm package and installed it using their instructions. It installed without error however when you send something to the print cue it just hangs and nothing ever looks like printing out.

Your help would be most apprieciated!

Regards,
Clint.

WWhere did you get that Canon RPM because I've been looking around and I can't find "Canon" rpms for my model ip1500?

Re: Canon LBP-1120 FC5 printer drivers

Hi,
I have got the exact same pb.
Runing Fedora Core 5, I installed the rpms given by Canon for their LBP-1120 Laser shot printer
found at:
http://software.canon-europe.com/sof...inuxs23675.asp

Eventhough the installation seem to happen without incident, in the end the printer does NOT
print anything. The print tasks are waiting to be printed but nothing happens...

I would welcome any suggestion that could help.

Also, I found the web page of this guy, and I was wondering if anybody had tried his drivers
to know if it works ?
http://www.boichat.ch/nicolas/capt/
He is also mentioned here:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...Canon-LBP-1120

Thank you very much.
SE.

FYI below for my correspondence with tech support (TYPICAL)!

Hello Clint,

Thank you for your email, but unfortunately there is not time frame given for the release of new linux drivers, we have requested the drivers to Japan. Keep an eye on Canon website, as soon as it is released will be on the website first.

Hi Anand,

Thats great - thank you. I'm just wondering what the likelihood of the
request being accepted, developed and released? Given this flavor of
Linux is the most widely used Linux distribution and is the basis for
the Enterprise edition of Red Hat (new version based off Fedora Core 5
due for release I expect that you guys will indeed release a driver. I'm
just wondering if there is a time frame on this; obviously I can't be
without a printer for 6 months!

Regards,
Clint.

I have checked more on the drivers that are available and unfortunately the drivers available doesnt support the version (Fedora Core 5) and cups (version 1:1.2.0-1.1) that you are using. It is the latest version in the market and at this stage there are no drivers available that supports the version that you are using.

The first time i installed the canon driver downloaded from www.canon i encountered the same probleme.
I solve it by desactivating SELinux protection on CUPS Daemon (cupsd) (See System>SecurityLevel ...> Tab SELinux, check the correct option)
