FC5 Installs to USB Drive but fails to Boot
I have successfully installed FC5_32 to a Western Digital USB 2.0 hard drive, but when I try to boot it, the boot process fails ending with a kernel panic. The boot process starts normally but starts to run off the tracks with the messages:
...
No volume groups found
Unable to find volume group VolGroup00
...
I have successfully installed several versions of Fedora - FC4_32, FC4_64 and FC5T3_64 - to this drive in the past. To have these installations boot, I had to create a new ram disk in /boot with mkinitrd... command. It is interesting that FC5T3 booted successfully with this installation procedure but FC5-64 fails to boot.
Please note: I disconnected all hard drives except the USB drive and used "Linux Expert" mode to install FC5 on the USB hard drive.
Any suggestions appreciated.
