Hello,

Was just wondering does anyone use Fedora for gaming and how does it compare to windows? particuarly with regard to fps shooters? Also is it difficult to set up?

For older games using wine or such, the performance can be darn close. High end games are a little trickier but I guess it could be done in cedega sometime. It's just a real shame PC games are starting to stink to high heaven. I am so sick and tired of this World of Nerdcraft stupidity and the like. :/ Just a big chat serv with graphics. But I digress, that's not what you asked. Still this is why I will probably buy a PS3 instead of buying videocards for a handful of good games and tons of boring ones. But I disgress again

I used to try to get my sons games to run under Linux but eventually gave up on it and installed XP Pro for him, it's entirely possible to get it to work if you want to fiddle with it and compile Cedega from CVS or pay for it.

Some games are native though, such as Doom3 and Quake4, they will run with native linux binaries downloadable from id's website.

More info here

I got the minimum 3 month subscription to transgaming... Yes, I can play World of Warcraft and it seems to just as well on my Linux box. I also installed some of the games in firewing1's list. In those same repos there is "Battle for Wesnoth" kind of Zelda like but still fun.

Just so everyone knows... Cedega is free if you compile it from cvs yourself.

Wine does work for a lot of games but some need Cedega, you can find the cvs download instructions here

Daniel114, yeah, I think WOW is cool... Careful though it's one of those games that suck up time! If you're married, have a family, etc, you may lose them! LOL!

I would agree with Klixxer and try to compile the source. I just didn't have time when I got the payed for version, but since I have it I use it.
