Vsftpd troubles

I am not sure if this is a trouble with vsftpd or with permissions on my part.
Either way I can log in with certain users, but I need a user that can go directly into my /var/www/html directory to put my webserver files into it.

Any help would be appreiciated.

you can create a user and assign that their home directory. Once done, create a group and assign the group to that directory tree. Once done there, change the permissions to something like 755 and then in vsftpd look for the "chroot" line. Ad your user to this. When that user logs in, he will be in the /var/www/html directory.

SELinux is getting in the way, I bet. What's its status? Execute "getenforce" to find out.

Thank you very much that fixed it, I haven't worked with SELinux to know it could do that to me, but thanks again!

See this thread for tips on troubleshooting vsftpd problems. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=97374

If you want to leave SELinux in enforcing mode, there's a command at the bottom of the thread that should configure it for ftp service.
