Can't boot up from Fedora Core 5 disc #1? Help !!!

Hi everyone,

I can't seem to boot up Fedora Core 5( latest version of fedora ) from the first CD I downloaded from http://fedora.redhat.com/Download/

I choose i386 link see below links and download all 5 FC disc links and burn into 5 CD's(I got a P4, 3.0 GHZ CPU, 250 GBHD, 1 GB Memory new pc with 2003 server loaded inside already), I try to make it dual boot.

03/15/2006 04:49AM 3,253,669,888 FC-5-i386-DVD.iso
03/15/2006 04:47AM 687,235,072 FC-5-i386-disc1.iso
03/15/2006 04:48AM 700,618,752 FC-5-i386-disc2.iso
03/15/2006 04:50AM 721,016,832 FC-5-i386-disc3.iso
03/15/2006 04:51AM 720,910,336 FC-5-i386-disc4.iso
03/15/2006 04:52AM 387,753,984 FC-5-i386-disc5.iso
03/15/2006 04:31AM 79,122,432 FC-5-i386-rescuecd.iso
03/15/2006 05:38AM 671 SHA1SUM

And on my pc I make sure boot sequence on BIOS setting is being setup as FLOPPY, CD ROM/DVD, HDD and insert the first CD( disc #1 ) I burned from above link ( with FC-5-i386-disc1.iso file loaded inside ), however it didn't try to read this FC disc #1 and jumped straight to 2003 Server which is the OS I have originally on pc, so I can't setup Fedora.

I then try to load redhat linux 8.0 setup CD disc #1 on this pc( same pc ) and it boot up properly. So I think pc itself should be ready for redhat linux installation but for some reason it doesn't seem to like the Fedora CD I made( can't boot up), I've also try the FC 3 disc #1, same result can't boot up. Have you had any experience download the same files from fedora site and burn into 5 CD's? Do I need to make some treak on the files which I download from Fedora website? I really need to setup Fedora Core 5 on my pc, so any help will be appreciated.

Make sure you've burned your CD's as an IMAGE, not just copied them. I always used this free program with Windows: http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ Just click on the ISO button and follow the easy steps. Also, make sure you've checked the sha1sum against the CD's so you know you've got all the data downloaded. Finally, once the installation starts, make sure you check EACH of the CD's against the media check. There can still be problems that might require you to download a fresh copy or do a fresh burn of a particular CD.

Also, on some BIOS's you'll have to hit a "Boot Menu" key. On a lot of dell machine's you'll have to hit F-12 to get in the boot menu, than select the media you want to boot from.

And like the previous poster wrote; make sure you're burning as an image. After you burned those CDs ... can you explore them in XP?. You should see a bunch of files/folders, and NOT a "FC-5-i386discXXX.iso" file.
