Proftp with Gproftpd user can't login
Installed FC5 last night, and now I have a problem with my Proftpd server, no user can login with their password, even though it's the correct password they use. It only works when I set it up with no pw required.
Is there a way to fix this problem or am I the only one with this FC5 Proftpd/gproftpd problem ?
Thanks for the help

Re: Proftp with Gproftpd user can't login
Marzio,
I have the same problem. In fact, mine started while running FC4. Someone said SELinux might be a problem with FTP (not sure server or client). You might try disabling SELinux. I haven't tried doing so yet.

the pam file has changed in proftpd in recent fedora rpm's.
get an older rpm which includes /etc/pam.d/ftp rather than /etc/pam.d/proftpd (which I think is the different pam file in the recent releases).
or - if you understand pam files - just edit it yourself :-)

Assuming the Fedora 7 PAM config file is not the culprit here (I have no ProFTPd installations at the moment), you can grab the package from here, right-click on it in Nautilus, select Open with "Archive Manager", navigate to ./etc/pam.d right click on proftpd and select "Extract". Then, as root, you can copy it tp /etc/pam.d, optionally renaming it to ftp to see if this solves the problem...

Then do as follows: After downloading the package from the link above or using wget, open a terminal and unpack the .rpm with
Code:
rpm2cpio proftpd-1.3.0a-3.fc7.i386.rpm | cpio -idmv
This will unpack the files in the current directory. Grab ./etc/pam.d/proftpd and copy it across using the scp command
Code:
scp proftpd user@target:/home/user
Amend the command above appropriately: user is your user on the target machine, /home/user is the directory you want to copy the file to.
