Correct Driver for Compaq Evo N610c Display?

I have a 1.8 GHz Compaq Evo N610C laptop. The screen is only recognized as generic in FC5. This laptop came in 2 flavors of screens (both 14.1" TFT): XGA and SXGA+. I have two questions:

1. How do I tell which display I have?
2. What is the correct driver in FC5 for this display?

Most laptops come with a manual. One could read and determine what display and graphics chip you have. If you registered with HP/compaq go to hp.com and click support. Best I can tell is you have an ATI video chip. ATI has linux drivers for their video chips on laptop Motherboards.

You may also search the forums for ATI laptop drivers here.

Hopefully this will point you to the light.

I appreciate the response. The laptop came from my work after an acquisition so, there are no manuals; however, I was able to find the specifications at Compaq(HP). Unfortunately, as I pointed out in my post, the best the Compaq specs could tell me is that it came with either the XGA or the SXGA+ depending upon what was ordered. The chip is a Radeon Mobility 7500.

The main reason for the question is that the XGA tops out at 1024x768 while the SXGA can handle substantially higher. I'd like a little more screen real estate but I don't want to overdrive the panel and fry it. I'm pretty sure it's only the XGA because the processor was on the low end of the range and I surmise that the better display only came on the higher end units. I am really hoping to see if there is a way I can confirm my suspicions without running the risk of damaging the panel.
