phpmyadmin - no phpmyadmin database

Decided to do a complete reinstall when I changed over to FC5 as the upgrade was throwing a few problems and not being the most technical it was easier to just go for a clean install. Used the following excellent guides which I have used for all the previous versions of fedora core: http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...ion_notes.html

Anyway when I go through the guide and finish off following all the instructions I get to the end and it says

"Click on the down arrow in the "Database:" selection dialog box in the left column. You should see the "mysql", "phpmyadmin", and "test" databases listed. You may delete ("drop") the "test" database if you wish. You have now successfully configured phpMyAdmin."

When I log into mysql through phpmyandmin which works fine ie I can login through the web interface and go to the databases pulldown the only databases listed are:

mysql, information_schema and test.

From reading elsewhere it seems that information_schema is quite normal in version 5 but I don't know why I haven't got a phpmyadmin database if according to the instructions I am supposed to have one. I can't really see anywhere in the instructions where this database is created so a little confused. What is the purpose of the phpmyadmin database anyway as I have access to the web interface and it seems to work fine therefore I don't understand its use and therefore can't understand the implicaton of not having it.

Sorry if i have sent you all to sleep there. Guess I'll soon find out if no one responds

Thanks

Eamonn Doyle
